Cuba, Missouri Leadership Class Trash pickup

A little teamwork for leadership class members makes the work go faster. Rebecca Hester's Leadership class has adopted the area in front of the school to keep clean as part of the Adopt-A-Street program.

Viva Cuba’s annual trash bash is enlisting volunteers to meet on Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 am for some spring cleaning of area streets and lots. Once again Swinger Sanitation will donate the use of a large dumpster as a trash collection point.

Viva Cuba invites churches, residents, families, businesses, and other organizations to form groups, pick an area or have one assigned, for trash pickup. A supply of stylish safety vests and trash bags are waiting for you. Everyone is welcome!

Cuba, Missouri Trash Bash Volunteer

Meramec Electrical Products volunteers adopted the highway by their facility in 2010. We let them wear our stylish vests and gave them some colorful trash bags. We appreciate their contribution to community.

Bring your own gloves and enthusiasm to join in this community tradition. This will be the 27th annual Trash Bash, and groups of all ages take part. Whether it is historic Route 66 or one of our side streets, we would like to give them a spring cleaning.

Viva Cuba’s crack  planting team plans to fill the city’s planters with flowers for the summer during the trash bash.

The planting team makes the planters around team bloom.

The trash bash begins a new season of beautification, but the cleanup in Cuba has been ongoing with the renewal of Viva Cuba’s and the city’s joint Adopt-A-Street program. Area individuals, businesses, and organizations have adopted streets for regular cleanup, and you may have noticed some new signs and activity in these areas. More streets are available, and Viva Cuba appreciates any groups or individuals that will take part in a positive cleanup effort. The program’s information and registration form is at www.cubamomurals.com.

If your group has already adopted a street, this is a good time to come out and give it a cleanup.

Any groups that are involved in the Trash Bash or the Adopt-A-Street program are welcome to send Viva Cuba digital images of their groups working so that we can share them on our blog or Facebook page.
